The computers are fast point really strikes a cord with me. Because so much of what programmers do seems to be about using abstractions and infrastructure to achieve things that are too slow when written naively in actual code. Just try plotting some 3D data using python. Should I use matplotlib, or a game engine, or maybe OpenGL? Each option could be too slow, even though the machine can easily process the raw data almost instantly.
