Why does this same magic crystal storage article keep poping up every 5 years? They always claim they could be very close to commercialisation and that it could change the world forever. Yet 25 years later, I fail to see any progress.

EDIT: I don't pretend I can understand the technical details, does anyone know if this is actually anything different from that old holographic stuff?
