The whole concept of art gaining perceived value after it's stolen is interesting to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of these robberies are staged in an attempt to raise prices/launder money.

Yep. It's just a token used to move money around.

If I owe you $100 million for some criminal or nefarious reason... Hey, nice painting you got there, it's worth $100 million you say?

Now I have the token and when someone needs to pay me, I can just pass it along. The token isn't worth anything.
