Does no one make a distinction between data and information any more?

Data are just observed facts. If you have a good and fast random number generator it will generate a lot of data. Information is about patterns in your data that are unlikely and that might show something interesting.

This article is definitely data, there are no real reasons to doubt that it exists. But it is not information, because there nothing new in it.
