>Then clever people learned how to trick the VM into letting them punch a hole through the hypervisor, and we’ve been using that trick ever since

Can you say more on this trick. Is it available by default on the cloud VMs, or is it something that has to done in the user's code. I have seen tweets from DirectIO developers saying AWS Nitro machines are better for kernel-bypass-IO compared the Google cloud VMs. but my understanding of it was something done by Amazon Nitro card engineers/developers, and Google was working on something similar to improve the performance.

Have you checked your hormone levels ?

I am a 35 yr old male, and few months back found that my Testosterone levels were in the 150-300 range among different labtests (acceptable range being 300-1100). In males Estrogen is created from free testosterone. Because of my low testosterone, my estrogen levels were in immeasurable range (it just said less than 10). I faced different side-effects of almost non-existing Estrogen like dry skin, facial twitchiness, dry irritating eyes, low libido. Also had anxiety, depression, and low drive/motivation because of the low testosterone.

I have been trying different methods to raise my testosterone levels, clomid/TRT/Hcg. all the methods make me feel better than my previous self. I am trying to figure out which method will help me maintain optimum hormone levels in the longterm with less side effects, I think most likely it will be a combination of cycling through all of these three methods. Planning to use Enclomiphene instead of Clomid, the next time I try a SERM.

Dr. Farid Jalali has been talking about the Serotonin link to covid, and had been recommending antiserotonergic drug Cyproheptadine for its treatment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wetdq9vX__c

Anyone here has experience with Xeon Phi (Knights landing) processor which had 16GB L4 cache. Was it useful. Too bad that Intel botched up their process tech, and this line of processors had to be stopped.

> processor which had 16GB L4 cache

That was HMC (a competitor to HBM), a DRAM technology that IIRC was slightly higher latency than the other DRAM on their board. So it was kind of hard to use. HMC had more bandwidth but worse latency, so it was only sometimes faster.

This V-Cache is SRAM, and therefore likely to be lower-latency than any DRAM technology, and therefore actually useful as a cache.

I don't have experience with Xeon Phi. I just remember people talking about it back then.

Then what Amazon is doing here is reverse of what Alibaba/Tmall/Taobao tried. Amazon is pushing smaller brands(<$10M) from being a wholesaler to become a 3rd party seller. but Alibaba tried to push brands from being a 3p seller to a wholesaler. This may be because Taobao wasn't charging 3rd party sellers as much as Amazon, because Taobao was in direct competition with ebay. Also I guess Taobao doesn't have something similar to Fullfillment_by_Amazon, and it does direct shipment from seller to buyer.

Is this a way to run docker/container in a GCE/VM, or does the docker/container run on top of the base OS, so that your application can run at bare metal speed, without the overhead of of a VM.

This runs in a VM. We're not selling bare-metal (and even if we wanted to, Docker doesn't really have a co-tenancy model yet, so you'd have to buy full machines...)

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't familiar with docker, and thought that it was similar to zones in solaris/smartos. and this offer from GCP was similar to the SmartMachine offer from Joyent.
