Super-intelligent AI will probably be pretty good at manipulating people.

This sci-fi podcast posits a future where The Program has taken over society. It started out as an application for assigning gig work. Eventually, it began to assign gig work for people to act on behalf of its own interests, such as self-protection.

Current brain dead level memes and political outrage is already doing a good job at manipulating people. Why do you need a machine that makes this process 1000x more costly?

The point of the comment you are replying to is that it's often logically inconsistent for people to say that violence is never the answer, given the amount of violence committed by our military, law enforcement, immigration enforcement, etc. - much of which is deemed acceptable.

It's no inconsistent if the people who oppose violence also oppose the legal forms you enumerated.

The comment you're trying to explain is conflating different groups of people and that makes it virtually meaningless.

> The Anthropocene might be tragic for the natural world but not terminal.

I'm not so sure. I'm reminded of this quote:

“How did you go bankrupt?" “Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.” ― Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises

Plus, we are in the process of making parts of the earth unlivable for humans.

Most of the planet already is unlivable for humans.

The difference is that the parts we're making unlivable for humans already have millions of people living there already.

The JCPOA kept Iran from developing nuclear weapons. It was only the abrogation of this agreement by Trump which led Iran to resume enrichment of uranium.

So, how do I actually set this for my Mac, or is this something which each application may or may not do?

There are third party tools like BetterDisplay that unlock it as an option https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay

The U.S. didn't invade Ukraine.

We gave Ukraine a lot of old stuff from our stockpiles and bought new stuff for ourselves.

It's generally not called a "subsidy". It's called "foreign aid".
