It's definitely _alluded_ to in Player of Games, mostly as a method of emphasising how unpleasant the Azad society is, but I don't think we ever really _see_ any of it?
(I may just be forgetting; it's probably at least a decade since I last read it.)
If I remember correctly, Gurgeh's internal narrative reveals what he observes in one of the secret channels that are restricted to the upper class. Unpleasant is quite the understatement. lol
But yeah, I don't think we actually see it firsthand, it's more disturbing than gory.
To give 24 some credit, it showed some Americans as complicit in the terrorism or corruption in the story. ZDT also touched on how torture wasn't as effective as assumed. I agree that the broader themes often feel biased/propagandized, framing the anti-hero, who's basically acting as a proxy for the government, as justified at almost any cost.
The are no consequences fighting with Democrats, however Republicans are petty and vindictive, and they now know how to weaponize all parts of the government. Also, having zero shame is a huge force multiplier.
1. Let the user choose between short, medium and long runs, say 10, 20 and 30 movies.
2. To make this more challenging, ensure the selection includes either exclusively black & white movies, exclusively color movies or a balanced mix of both. 12 Angry Men was easy to identify as it was the only one as such.
3. Perhaps create another ranking for "speedruns" (and differently sized runs).
4. Given that account creation can be a huge barrier for some users, state upfront that you are only requiring username and password.
Also, for some reason I couldn't copy and paste these suggestions in the textarea.
I wonder how volatile SpaceX's stock will be given the usual imbroglio Twitter tends to generate under Musk. Talking to a friend and he said "the same as Tesla", but maybe now it's a little bit different since they (SpaceX and Twitter) are one and the same? I guess we'll find out.
