ChainSecurity | Blockchain Security Engineer | Full-time | INTERNS, REMOTE, Zurich, Switzerland | VISA possible | https://chainsecurity.com/
ChainSecurity is a young and innovative cybersecurity company that operates in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space. Our mission is to make the blockchain space secure and trustworthy for people, companies, and governments alike. ChainSecurity is proud of its security experts from the renowned universities ETH Zurich, EPFL Lausanne and others. We are trusted by 100+ blockchain companies and established corporations with security audits and services. We have secured complex systems for top blockchain clients, such as decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, and multinational organizations, such as banks and industrial consortia.
We are looking for engineers who are extremely curious, think critically, and have the drive to learn and discover. We welcome experienced hires, but also fresh or soon-to-be graduates with high potential and an interest in blockchain and cybersecurity.
As nurturing talent is our business model, we put employees in the center of all decisions. We are a flat organization, and happiness at work is one of our biggest priorities. Our employees benefit from competitive pay and a very advantageous profit-sharing system.
A ChainSecurity Auditor will review the most complex blockchain projects to find vulnerabilities which no-one else can. By using state of the art tools, expert knowledge and a deep understanding of the fundamentals, we secure projects handling billions, often forming the foundation in the new paradigm of an open financial system.

"A network where devices eventually become existential threats is a network that eventually ceases to exist."
I imagine this only if these devices can't be disconnected. Life creates its own existential threats in a lot of parts of the "network", but they are contained or fixed eventually. Diversity is the key, and even though all life we know has the same fundamental building blocks, so far it worked out. The internet is not that fundamentally different. So instead of working on ways to increase maintenance, continue to make the internet a highly diverse place.
Only the interest rates on money borrowed from the swiss national bank (which only other banks can use) are affected. This will keep the interest rate you get for your private account close or equal to zero, but they will not get below that margin for exactly the reason that people will withdraw their money.
Having followed the course in 2010 I can fully recommend the script. It gives an exceptionally comprehensive explanation into the most important distributed computing principles without requiring much (if any) previous knowledge on the topic.
The course helped me a lot to get a grasp on the complexity of the various underlying challenges the distributed computing and routing world is facing (and with it an idea of the speed achievable).
I can recommend anyone enrolled to visit the course in person (most algorithms and solutions are being "discovered" together with the class on the blackboard, which helped me a lot with a deeper understanding), but I found that the script alone already gives a very good foundation of the principles of distributed computing.
