How is paying for a product instead of being the product a bad thing?

That view is overly simplistic. People find real utility in ad-supported tools and apps.

But the question is if its a net negative for society. People found real utility is leaded gasoline too, but we rightfully had to ban that

It is beyond time for a Representation Reconciliation. If the People do not control their destiny then tyranny reigns. There is no debate.

Very cool. Clean.

Arguments for the lesser of two evils are just wrappers for slippery slope logic. The actual alternative is to pass air tight privacy laws that restrain the growing power of control systems.

It's not a slippery slope if it's already slipped. In over 20 states you have to do age verifications with online companies in order to do "adult" things online

We The People are simply no longer represented. Do the math on historic representation ratios and you'll quickly see the first consolidation (long before corporate or bureaucratic) was Representation. We are about 6500 Reps shy of an actual Democratic Republic.

>not less than 40,000

It was originally 30,000 but was changed, your author is using the updated version.

Additionally, there is another way to change it. The Texas State Legislature. Texas is the only state with Congressional pre-approval to break up into 4 more states. 5 total without the need for congresses approval. Texas breaks up, then California and New York are heavily outnumbered in the Senate as each state gets 2 Senators. Other states will follow and so too will calls to expand the House.

There is a path without state amendment process or congress.

But only for Texas, unique because its annexation limits the number of new Texian states to 5.

Hey man, trust the science.

None of these companies are serious businesses. They are either researchers out of their depth in transforming their work into economically stable products or they are inept CEO scammers pretending that how you sell something is more important than what you sell.

How much money did the CFPB actually give back to wronged consumers?

Pre-trump's attempts to eliminate the department, almost $20 billion.

And one would hope that the purpose of the CFPB would be to dissuade lenders from wronging consumers in the first place, meaning the net benefit to consumers was likely much higher.

Thanks for the numbers!

Their mere presence was effective. I know people who had trouble with banks refusing to fix their own screwups and demanding evidence that couldn’t exist.

They changed their tune the second there was an open case on the matter.

Also of note is they were responsible for medical debt cases, which are particularly difficult for people to resolve because of the shared responsibility between the patient and the insurer, which allows the insurer to deflect responsibility until the bill ends up in collections.
